Autism Spectrum Disorder

ALL YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER!

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disease characterized by impaired social interaction, repetitive behaviour & deficient language and social skills.

According to recent data of CDC’s estimate on autism prevalence, there is an increase of nearly 10 per cent, 1 out of 54 children in the U.S. suffer from ADS. This rapid rise suggests that environmental factors are significant contributing factors.

What is autism spectrum disorder?

Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disorder impacting communication & behaviour. People with ASD face:

  • Difficulty with communication
  • Difficulty in interacting with others
  • Restricted interests & repetitive behaviour

Autism is a “spectrum” disorder because of the wide variation in type & severity of symptoms experienced by patients.

ASD can be a lifelong disorder, but specific treatments and services can improve a person’s symptoms and function.

Autism Spectrum Symptoms

People with ASD and related conditions often find it challenging to accommodate socially & emotionally due to weak communication skills. Many people with ASD may have different learning, attention paying, or reacting patterns. Signs of ASD can activate in early childhood & last throughout life.

Some Autism Spectrum Symptoms:

  • Not pointing at objects to show interest
  • Not looking at things when another person points towards them
  • Troubling relating to others or have most minor curiosity in people
  • Avoid eye contact & stay alone
  • Prefer not to be held or cuddled
  • Unaware about people talking to them, but respond to other sounds
  • Repeat words or phrases said to them
  • Have trouble expressing needs using words or motions
  • Not playing “pretend” games
  • Repetitive actions
  • Have trouble adapting to changes
  • Have unusual reactions to routine activities

Autism Spectrum Therapies

With no one-shot “cure” to autism, there are several interventions with a scope of improving functioning. Here are the most commonly used ASD therapies:

Applied behavioural analysis: The treatment involves the systematic study of a child’s operational challenges. The resources are then used to create a structured behavioural plan to improve adaptive skills & decrease inappropriate behaviour.

Social skills training: Sometimes a group-based or conducted in individual settings, this intervention helps children with ASD to boost their ability to navigate social situations.

Speech & language therapy: This aims to improve the child’s speech patterns and understand the language better.

Occupational therapy: This addresses adaptive skills deficits with activities of daily living, as well as problems with handwriting

Parent management training: Parents need to learn effective ways to respond to problematic behaviour & encourage appropriate behaviour in kids.

VDTP/GcMAF Therapy for Autism

Second-generation high-dose VDTP/GcMAF immunotherapy is administered to overcome the challenges of immune system dysfunction, including the macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), which has an integral role in autism and leads to commonly observed symptoms. Recommended doses of VDTP/GcMAF are administered twice weekly (intramuscular or subcutaneous injections). There are millions of researchers working to prove the benefits of VDTP/GcMAF on ASD patients.

Immunotherapy is nothing more than specific lifestyle changes and dietary habits which align your body to use its mechanisms to fight back disorders. The immune system is the human body’s self-defence system that activates itself upon an intervention of alien substances in the body. The immune system blocks any foreign intervention for those perfectly healthy, ensuring zero damage to the cells. For people with a weaker immune system, immunotherapy focuses on externally injecting the required VDTP/GcMAF or other proteins needed to fight back the attack.

Building a stronger immunity requires an effective and strategic dietary plan filled with necessary nutrition to keep the immune system active and alert. Our previous blogs have listed different immune-boosting diets that can be prepared for self-nourishment at home.

Scientists are increasingly recommending immunotherapy with minimal effects on other body functions to address disorders like Autism and other life-threatening diseases like Cancer.

Immune system dysregulation is one of the reasons behind Autism related disorders. Research shows significant use of the VDTP/GcMAF immunotherapy, which had positive effects on autistic children.

Research Findings:

  • VDTP/GcMAF treatment normalizes the observed differences in dysregulated gene expression of the endocannabinoid system of the autism group.
  • VDTP/GcMAF down-regulated the over-activation of BMDMs in autistic children.
  • The study shows some first observations of VDTP/GcMAF effects on the transcriptomics of the endocannabinoid system & expression of CB2R protein.
  • The final findings indicate a potential nexus between endocannabinoids, vitamin D and its transporter proteins, and the immune dysregulations observed in children with autism.

Children with autism experience anxiety, depression, and insomnia more often than peers without autism. They are more likely to suffer from ADHD and experience intellectual disability. The ongoing research on immunotherapy and VDTP/GcMAF and the positive results are an addition to possible treatments of autism that we all have been waiting for so long!
