Natural Living

DOES ‘NATURAL LIVING’ AFFECT YOUR LONGEVITY?

Did you know that your life expectancy is a direct function of your lifestyle, eating habits and level of fulfilment?

A generation or two ago, the idea of living past 90 was unrealistic. Now, with modern medicine, surviving up to that age is a norm in most countries. However, the years that get cut from our lives result from our lifestyle.

Living naturally or ‘natural living’ can have a tremendously positive impact on your health and increase your lifespan dramatically. And, this is not a shallow promise – people across the world have been living with the natural secret of longevity. In fact, researchers call these areas (populated with people who lived past 100 years of life) the Blue Zones.

In this article, we will explore the secrets of natural living that enhance the life of us mortal beings.

Eating Right

Eating unhealthy is the leading cause of rising health disorders and deaths due to cardiac diseases.

Taking too much processed food, saturated fats, sugar, alcohol and oil not only block our arteries over time but also contain a compound called Glyphosate. Glyphosate is a compound known to cause cancer and other health conditions that surface years later. You can read the detailed piece here.

The key is to eat natural, unprocessed and non-preserved food along with a balanced diet of fruits and green leafy. Below is the list of some power foods that not only aid health but are also capable of protecting against cancerous growth;

  • Turmeric
  • Spinach
  • Beans
  • Nuts
  • Quinoa
  • Apple-Cider Vinegar
  • Organic Flours

And so many other healthy natural options.

Exercise and Avoid Passive Entertainment

Passive Entertainment (indulging in unhealthy behaviour too long for dopamine) like junk food, smartphone addiction, binging and overconsumption are signs of deep underlying stress. The idea is to ditch passive entertainment, become more physically active and challenge yourself to take positive action.

Researchers of the Blue Zones found socializing everyday with your loved ones, staying connected to a purpose and distributing your time wisely was highly likely to boost your longevity.

Living naturally encompasses focusing on the most important aspects of your life for optimum mental, emotional and physical well-being. Don’t let passive entertainment get the best of you – and live long in this beautiful world!

Cut the Stress

Researches into longevity have found some common recurring patterns amongst different faiths and religions of the world.

For instance, Okinawans take a few moments each day to remember their ancestors, Adventists pray, Ikarians take a nap and Sardinians do happy hour. All these cultural habits have been woven into the lives of people to help them regulate stress.

Hyper stress can lead to chronic inflammation that further trigger different age-related diseases. Cut the stress and take out sometime from your daily life to meditate, reflect and relax. You’ll sense bliss shortly.
