We are told by dentists that we should seek out toothpastes that contain Fluoride, as it’s good for our teeth and gums and prevents cavities. But in actual fact Fluoride is an industrial waste product that was once used in rat poisons and is a dangerous toxin that can cause brain damage and death.
Watch this video where the small print on a Colgate toothpaste is read out:
In very small print on the label of toothpaste it reads: “If more than is needed is accidentally swallowed get medical help or contact the poison control center right away”

According to Dr. Mercola over the course of a lifetime, the average American uses about 20 gallons of toothpaste and even though you don’t swallow it, chemicals in the toothpaste can make their way into your bloodstream, courtesy of the fact that your mouth has an absorption efficiency rate of more than 90 percent.2
Fluoride is added to toothpaste to help build strong teeth. It is also added to our drinking water to build strong teeth as well. Great right? Wrong. In actuality fluoride is poison. Years ago fluoride was used as an insecticide and rat poison, and the funny thing about using it to build strong teeth is that it actually does more harm than good.
What is Fluoride?
Believe it or not, fluoride is a by-product of copper, aluminium and iron manufacturing. But oddly, in the 1930’s one of the largest manufacturers of aluminium “discovered” that fluoride was good for developing healthy teeth and practically eradicated tooth decay.
Wow, what a coincidence huh? So now, instead of having the issue of disposing of this hazardous chemical waste, they can just add it to the water supply and everyone will have brighter, whiter smiles.
Well actually, a study of 39,000 school children in 84 areas around the U.S. showed that there was no significant difference in tooth decay between fluoridated and non-fluoridated water supplies.
Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly, “tooth decay trends tracked by the World Health Organization from 1970 to the present show that the incidence of decayed, missing or filled teeth has been steadily in decline with each passing year in the U.S., France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Iceland and Greece. And why are the numbers of decayed teeth on the decline? Better oral hygiene and improved dental practice is the most obvious answer. It’s certainly not the fluoride. Because of all of those countries, only one adds fluoride to the public water supply: the United States.” Source Global Health Center.
Some of the above listed countries had put fluoride in the water in the past but knowing the dangers of the chemical stopped, based not only on the dangers of the chemical, but also based on the idea that any “health treatments” people used should be a choice rather than forced upon them whether they want it or not.
So, how is Fluoride bad for you?
Well, if you consume too much, your teeth will actually begin to discolor and decay, not to mention that fluoride helps the brain absorb aluminum, a substance that has been found in most of the brains of Alzheimer”s patients. Other studies have associated fluoride with hip fractures as well as musculoskeletal and nervous system damage, which leads to limited joint mobility, ligament calcification, muscular degeneration and neurological deficits. Oh, and did I mention that fluoride has been linked to 10,000 cancer deaths annually.
Oddly, local, state and federal agencies in The U.S. dismiss these facts and continue to support the baseless ideology that fluoride is good for you. This could be due to the fact that if they admitted they have been poisoning or water supplies for decades there would be huge liability and subsequent lawsuits.
Suggestions? Filter your tap water before drinking it and switch to baking soda toothpaste to keep those pearly whites pearly.
Eight Health Problems Caused By Fluoride
1. Tooth Decay
Fluoride can cause a type of tooth decay called dental fluorosis most commonly found in children. The average child has been found to swallow as much as 33% of the toothpaste applied to their brush.
2. Gum Damage
Fluoride poisons enzyme activity and slows down the ability of the gums to repair themselves.
3. Weakened Immune System
Sodium fluoride has been found to weaken the immune system and can damage the kidneys and liver. Symptoms of fluoride toxicity include fatigue, muscle pain and memory loss.
Once in the brain, fluoride can calcify the pineal gland which is responsible for the natural production of melatonin which is essential for good sleep.
5. Bone Fractures and Skeletal Fluorosis
Too much fluoride weakens bones which can lead to fractures. Skeletal fluorosis is similar to arthritis with symptoms such as joint pain, stiffness, and weakness.
6. Endocrine Disruption
Fluoride lowers thyroid functions and increases tumour formation and cancer rate.
7. Neurotoxicity and Neurobehavioral Effects
Fluoride was officially classified as a neurotoxin by The Lancet in 2016. Studies have shown that fluoride can cause lower IQ, behavioural issues and Alzhiemer-like symptoms.
8. Reproductive Issues
Fluoride damages sperm, increases infertility and may cause premature births.
As the fluoride-free movement grows there are more and more amazing fluoride-free toothpaste options available. You can find whitening ones, minty ones and even yummy strawberry flavoured ones for the kids. Your teeth won’t even notice the fluoride is gone but the rest of your body will be happy that it is.
