Holistic Doctor Exposes the Truth About How the Medical Board Certifies Its Doctors

Dr. David Brownstein finished conventional medical school and became board-certified family physician, but most of what he learned he had to leave behind for what he actually found to be working for his patients — holistic medicine.

He has been practicing holistic medicine for about 20 years, but it has been 10 years this spring since his last re-certification by the American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP). After some debating, he begrudgingly went to take the test and found it to be a huge waste of time.

For about seven hours, Brownstein immersed himself in the test and was shocked by what he found: almost all questions from the family practice board were about different pharmaceutical drugs and how to use them. In each of these vague questions about drug therapy, a patient was given a cocktail of prescription drugs. Dr. Brownstein writes:

In my SEVEN (miserable) hour board exam today, I found myself getting more and more irritated.  Nearly every question was about a drug—how it is used, the side effects associated with it, and how it interacts with other drugs.  There were virtually no questions about the importance of diet or the importance of identifying nutritional deficiencies.  In fact, I can’t recall one question along those lines.  The patient vignettes that I suffered reading through were all the same—the patient was taking multiple drugs and I was asked one obscure question about the drug therapy prescribed to the patient.

Instead of feeling as though the patients in these imagined scenarios were being healed, Dr. Brownstein simply felt sorry for them.

“I actually felt bad for the poor patients in the vignettes as they were having their biochemistry poisoned with multi-drug prescription cocktails,” writes Dr. Brownstein in his blog.

There was almost nothing in the exam about nutrition or health.

The test basically ignored everything Dr. Brownstein uses to heal the patients, and instead simply pushed drugs that come with a laundry list of side effects and potential complications, as the seven-hour ordeal endured by Dr. Brownstein demonstrates.

“The Big Pharma Cartel couldn’t be happier,” he writes.

The main issue the doctor pointed out that is wrong with this system is that drugs only get in a way of body’s healing rather than addressing the root causes of the disease, as he routinely does in his own holistic medicine practice. The way they work in the body is wholly unnatural, which is why learning how to prevent them from causing even more harm than usual takes a full course of study.

Even so, properly taken prescription drugs still kill over 100,000 people annually, and that doesn’t even include the many mistakes and cases of overdose that take place each year (imagine if natural medicine killed even 1/100th of that total).

Most people unfortunately don’t take the time to research how drugs really work, and how much they could potentially harm them, as the doctor noted.

“…Nearly all of the drugs currently used in conventional medicine work by disrupting the body’s physiology and biochemistry by poisoning enzymes and blocking receptors.”

In the end Dr. Brownstein decided that he will never waste seven hours doing this again.

“That will be the last time I put myself through something as ridiculous as that endeavor!” he writes.
